You can use scheduled tasks to automate the execution of regularly performed activities. A user responsible for the execution must be allocated to each scheduled task. A task can be set to be repeated daily, weekly or monthly and can also run several times within the specified intervals, depending on the selected options. It is also possible to perform these tasks as consecutive tasks in a series or as a batch job. Depending on the task and when working with distributed servers, a specific server can be allocated.
Note: Tasks that were stopped as incorrect are reactivated using Save Again and executed again at the next specified time.
Simultaneously running scheduled tasks
Several scheduled tasks can run simultaneously, i.e. when planning repeats the execution times of other independent tasks do not have to be taken into account. Tasks that mutually exclude each other are queued automatically by the system.
For further recommendations on when or how often a task should run, see the descriptions of individual tasks.
Running tasks screen
You can see which tasks are currently running under Control center/Admin/Current tasks.
A list of the last tasks carried out is maintained under Control center/Admin/Last tasks performed. You can also see here if a batch job has run.
The Scheduled tasks list also shows details of the status of a task.
Consecutive tasks: Sequencing of scheduled tasks
You can very easily create task chains that accelerate the process cycle by configuring consecutive tasks. You enter a time for the first task to be performed, and link it with a consecutive task. You can string any number of tasks together. Each consecutive task depends on the preceding task, i.e. the execution sequence of the tasks must be logical. If an error occurs in the chain, it is only executed up to the incorrect task. The name of the responsible user displayed in the list in brackets,‘designations of the task, name of supplier and/or buying companies for which the task is running are all used for identification purposes, if these settings are permitted.
All tasks set as No/Consecutive Task type, which therefore do not have their own repeat setting, appear in the list of consecutive tasks in the Task to be performed field in each task.
Consecutive tasks are marked in the Scheduled tasks list with a light blue .
Note: Tasks with the repeat type No/Consecutive Task are only performed if they are entered as a consecutive task with another task!
