Creating and editing approval roles

Approval approval roles make it easier to assign approvers to approval rules. You can assign an approval role to an approval rule instead of assigning individual users. This makes it possible to change the approvers without having to change the approval rule.

You can also use contact and user categories to categorise contact persons, for example, business contact person and technical contact person.

Creating and editing an approval role

  1. On the User administration page, click the Approval roles link.
  2. The Roles list is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this page.
  3. Click:
    • the New entry button to create a new approval role.
    • the icon to edit an existing entry
  4. Enter a name for the role. The role name must be unique within the system. You must enter a name for all languages that have been defined in the system.
  5. Click Save.

Assigning approvers to a role

  1. In the Roles list, click the icon next to the approval role.

    The Role definitions page is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this page.

  2. Click:
    • the New entry button to assign a new user
    • the icon to edit an existing entry
  3. The Approval role definition page is displayed.
