Creating and editing classification mappings

After the import of classification schemes (eCl@ss, UNSPSC or "simple" classification schemes) by the corresponding import tasks and the import of an assignment file (with "source" classification and "target" classification) you can view, edit and delete the imported assignments and add new classification assignments.

  1. On the page Catalog administration, click the link Classification mappings.

The page Classification mapping is displayed.

  2. Select the Source classification and the target classification and click the button Next.

The page Classification mapping is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this page.

  3. Click:
    • the button New entry to add a new classification mapping.
    • the icon to view and edit an existing classification mapping.

Note: You can not change existing mappings directly. In order to change an existing mapping, you have to create a new mapping and overwrite the existing mapping by activating the option Overwrite existing entries.

The page Insert classification mapping is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this page.

  4. Enter a Source classification number and a Target classification number.
  5. If necessary, activate the option:
    • Insert symmetric entry, to create an entry with the displayed target as source and the displayed source as target.
    • Overwrite existing entries, to replace existing entries by the newly entered numbers.

Note: Symmetric entries can only be created if there are not several source classifications that have already been assigned to this target classification or would be assigned to it. Otherwise the unambiguity of source to target would be lost, and updating product classifications would be impossible. For this reason this case would be automatically blocked.

  6. Click Save.
