When using the catalog import, the user has access to catalogs that are stored directly in the file system of the server. On the contrary, with the catalog upload, the catalog manager can upload catalogs from his PC to the server and start their import. This applies to a new catalog (in BMEcat: T_NEW_CATALOG), as well as to an update of products and prices (in BMEcat: T_UPDATE_PRODUCTS/PRICES). A supplier who has access to the system can also use the catalog upload to import catalogs for his company.
On the page Catalog administration click the Link Catalog Upload.
The page Catalog upload is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this page.
The Upload is divided into three steps:
Creating Upload
Import new catalog, in order to create a new catalog (BME-Type T_NEW_CATALOG)
Update catalog (pricelist import) in order to update products and prices of existing catalogs of the type BME T_UPDATE_PRODUCTS/PRICES. If you edit a catalog of the type BME T_NEW_CATALOG , the previous catalog will be replaced.
Note: If the supplier does not yet exist in the database, you have to create it first. (see Create and edit supplier).
The tab Upload multimedia is displayed.
Uploading multimedia data
The tab Upload catalog is displayed.
Selecting catalog file and start upload
The catalog will be transferred from your PC to the server and preliminary checks are carried out. If you selected the Import new catalog option, only new catalogs are accepted; if you selected the Update catalog option, only catalogs that have already been imported are accepted. If the catalog has been accepted, the file name, supplier name, BMEcat version and the catalog type are displayed. You can enter a new name in the Catalog name field.
The indexing has to be started separately by an administrator with a scheduled task. After completion of the import you will receive a message in the lobby and as email, if this option has been selected.
