Adding references to other products

You can add cross-references between catalog products, e.g. in order to draw the user's attention to similar products or to products that have to be ordered in combination with other products.

  1. Display the product to which you want to add a reference (see Create and edit products).
  2. Click the tab References. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this tab.
  3. Click the button Add.

All articles of the catalog are displayed.

  4. Search for the product to which you want to add a reference and click the icon . You can find further information on search functions under Working with search in the manual General information for all users.

The new reference is displayed on the tab References.

  5. In the list Type, select the type of reference you want to use. For example, if a second product has to be ordered in combination with this product, select the type of reference Requires.
  6. If necessary, enter the required quantity of the referenced product in the field Quantity. The selected text and the quantity are displayed to the users on the Product information page, e.g. Requires memory. If you want your own text to be displayed instead of the standard text, enter your text in the field Text.
  7. Click Save.

The product references you have entered are displayed on the product information page in the section Similar products.

Depending on the selected type of reference, the referenced products may be automatically added to the basket (for example, when you selected the reference type Requires), or the icon is displayed in the basket next to the product. The user can click this icon to add the referenced product to the basket.
