Assigning product attributes and classifications

You can assign attributes to products, as e.g. investments or hazardous goods. You can assign attributes to one single product in the product data, or assign attributes to several products in the products overview. You can also assign classifications to products, as e.g. eClass or material numbers.

Product attributes can be created and edited for all companies by a catalog manager (see Create and edit product attributes).

Assign attributes to a product

  1. On the page Catalog administration, click the link Products.

The page Product administration will be displayed.

  2. Click the symbol next to the product. You can search for entries in the list and adjust the display of the list (see Working with search and Working with lists in the manual General information for all users).

The page Product data will be displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information about this page.

  3. Click the tab Attributes.
  4. In the section Attributes , select the attributes and enter values, if necessary.
  5. Click Save.

Assign attributes to several products

  1. On the page Catalog administration, click the link Products.

The page Product administration will be displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information on this page.

  2. Activate the checkbox next to the product you want to assign an attribute to.
  3. In the selection list Attributes  on top of the page, select the attribute that you want to assign.
  4. Click the button Apply.

The symbol next to the selected products changes from to as an identifier that attributes have been assigned. The corresponding checkboxes on the tab Product in the section product data are activated.

In order to delete attributes, activate the checkbox next to the product on the list, and click the button Deny.

Assign classifications and material numbers

  1. Display the product you want to assign classifications or material numbers to (see Create and edit products).
  2. Click the tab Attributes.
  3. In the section EClass or UNSPSC, enter the classification number for the product to classify it.

If you enter an eClass number, the product will be copied to the existing eClass catalog, provided that the eClass classification scheme has been imported (see Create eClass catalog). If the product has already been classified, the existing classification is displayed in this section.

  4. If you want to assign material number, enter the number in the section Material number.

Notes on material numbers

In OCI systems, the same product can have different order numbers for different customers (according to SAP specification). You can assign an unlimited number of material numbers to a product, so that different customers can use the same catalog. In the OCI interface, you define which material number has to be used as order number instead of the article number, if the product will be ordered by a certain customer. You also have to set in the basic contract which order number shall be used instead of the article number of the product.
