Creating and editing product attributes
Product attributes such as core catalog, investments or hazardous goods can be assigned by the supplier in the catalog or be created by the catalog manager for all companies. Product attributes can be used for a search (see Working with search and -Defining search queries - rules and examples in the manual General information for all users).
On the page Catalog administration, click the link product attributes. The page Product attributes is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information on this page.
Some Standard attributes such as eCl@ss classification numbers, material numbers (Reference: MATNR) and dimensions are already provided here. Related product attributes are combined in groups. Click the icon 
next to a group to display the subordinated groups and products. Click the name or the icon 
or 
to edit a group or an attribute.
Create product attribute groups
- On the product attributes page, click the Link New set (group).
The page Attribute set is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information on this page.
- Enter a name for the group. The group will be listed in the system under this name. In the section Explanation you can enter a name and a description for each language used in the system.
- If this group should be subordinated to another group, select the superordinated group from the selection list Group.
- If you do not want this group to be displayed to users, but only be used for internal classification, activate the option Hidden.
- Click the button Save.
The new group is displayed on the product attributes page.
Create product attributes
- On the page Product attributes, click the link New Attribute.
The Product attribute page is displayed. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information on this page.
- Enter a name for the attribute. The attribute will be stored in the system under this name. In the section Explanation, you can enter a name and a description for each language used in the system. The explanation is displayed to the users.
- In the selection list Group, select the group to which the product belongs.
- You can set a priority, however this is for information only and has no effect in the system.
- In the selection list Data type you specify which type of data you use when creating the attribute:
- True/false
- Integer: Numbers with possibility to predefine scale
- Floating point: Numbers with possibility to predefine scale
- Character: Variable character string (letter, digit, character string)
- Period/Date
If you enable the option List, the field Value is displayed (except for the option True/false). You can enter values in lines and thus define, which data can later be selected when creating a new attribute.
In the section Options, select your Options. Select the menu item Help to display detailed information on these options.
- Click the button Save.
The new attribute is displayed on the product attributes page.
