Creating cross references between products

You can create cross references between products in catalogs, for example, to draw the user's attention to similar products or to products that must be ordered in combination with other products.

  1. Display the product for which you want to add cross references (see Editing products).
  2. Click the References tab.
  3. Click the Add button.

All items in the catalog are displayed.

  4. Find the product that you want to reference and click the icon .

The new reference is added to the References tab.

  5. From the Type selection list, select the type of reference that you want to use. For example, if a second product must be ordered together with the product, select the type Requires.
  6. If necessary, in the Quantity field, enter the quantity of the referenced product that should be ordered.

The text you selected and the quantity are displayed to the user on the product information page. For example, Requires 2 memory banks. If you want your own text to appear instead of the default text, enter this text in the Text field.

  7. Click Save.

The references that you enter for the product are displayed in the Similar products section on the product information page.

Depending on which reference type you selected, the referenced products may be automatically added to the basket when the user adds the product to the basket (for example, when you select the reference type Requires), or the icon is displayed next to the product in the basket. The user can then click this icon to add the referenced product to the basket.
