Assigning attributes and classifications to products

You can assign classifications, such as eClass, to products and assign material numbers and attributes, such as size and weight, to individual products.

You can also assign attributes to multiple products in one step.

Assigning classifications, material numbers and attributes to individual products

  1. Display the product for which you want to define classifications or attributes (see Editing products).
  2. Click the Attributes tab.
  3. To classify the product, in the EClass section or UNSPSC section, enter the classification number for the product.

    If you enter an eClass number, the product is included in the existing eClass catalog, provided that the eClass classification schema has been imported. If the product has already been classified, the existing classification is displayed in this section.

    To assign material numbers, enter the numbers in the Material numbers section. See Notes on material numbers for more information.

  4. To assign attributes, in the Attributes section click the icon . Select an attribute from the selection list and enter the value for the attribute. For example, select the attribute Width and enter the width of the product in the text box. Click the icon to remove an attribute.

Note: Attributes are entered in the system by the catalog manager.

Notes on material numbers

In OCI systems, the same product can have different order numbers for different customers (in accordance with SAP specifications). In order that different customers can use the same catalog, you can assign any number of material numbers to a product. In the OCI interface, you then specify which material number should be used as the order number for the product when it is ordered by a specific customer. You must also specify in the basic contract which order number should be used instead of the product article number.

Assigning attributes to multiple products

  1. Select the menu item Supplier.
  2. Click the Catalogs link.
  3. Click the Products link.

    The Product administration page is displayed.

  4. Activate the checkbox next to each product to which you want to assign an attribute.
  5. In the Attribute selection list at the top of the page, select the attribute that you want to assign.
  6. Click the Apply button.

    The icon next to the product changes from to to indicate that attributes have been assigned. The corresponding check boxes in the tab Product data are activated accordingly.

    To remove attributes, activate the check box next to the products and click the Deny button.
