Impact Ordering offers sophisticated functions for assigning roles and rights to users in order to control their access to the system. By assigning authorization sets, role sets and user groups to a user, you can control which information the user can access and which actions the user can perform.
Authorization sets
An authorization set is a collection of individual rights which allow users to perform specific actions in the system, such as creating baskets, approving requests, editing users, etc. Several standard authorization sets are provided in the system, which cannot be modified. However, users with the appropriate rights can create new authorization sets and assign them to users. Thus access to the system can be tailored to the individual needs of a company.
Company administrators can assign authorization sets to users in their User profile.
Role sets
A role set is a collection of authorization sets. Role sets reduce the administrative effort involved in assigning authorization sets to users. Users with the appropriate rights can create new role sets and assign them to users.
Company administrators can assign individual role sets to users in their User profile.
User groups
A user group is a collection of role sets. User groups reduce the administrative effort involved in assigning role sets and authorization sets to users.
Company administrators can combine several roles sets in a user group and assign the user group to a company in the Company profile or to individual users in their User profile.
Mutually exclusive authorization sets
Mutually exclusive authorization sets are authorization sets that can be assigned to a user, but not used at the same time by the user, for example, buyer and requester. Both buyers and requesters can create baskets, however, requesters can only create proposal baskets while buyers can create and send real baskets.
Both authorization sets cannot be used at the same time, as this may violate the catalog rights of the user. For example: a user is a buyer for company A and catalog X and at the same time requester for company B and catalog Y. Theoretically he thus has the right to place products from catalog X and catalog Y in his basket. However, if he is currently editing a basket for company A, he may only order products from catalog X.
For this reason, a user may only select an authorization set for a single organisation. For further information see Changing authorization set or company in the user guide General information for all users.
